The village of Momtchilovtsi is located in the central part of the Rhodope Mountains at 1100 meters above the sea. Momtchilovtsi is about 100 km to the south of Plovdiv and 10 to the north of the town of Smolyan. It is known as one of the first villages in Bulgaria that started the development of "rural tourism" in the 1990's. Momtchilovtsi is nicely situated on the southern slopes of Mt Prespa and provides good opportunities for bike excursions with different difficulty level towards the neighboring villages, the main ridge and the chapels in the area. One may use the village of Momtchilovtsi as a base for the visit of the famous Rozhen saddle where the annual folklore festival take place, the National Astronomy Observatory, Haidushki Polyani area, Mt Prespa and the picturesque villages of Tikale, Kutela, Slaveino, Levothcevo.

In 2006 BIKEAREA team way marked four bike routes (loops) center based in Momtchilovtsi with total length of about 165 km.
- Momtchilovtsi - Kutela - Haidushki Polyani - Prespa Hut - Manastir - Haidushki Polyani - Momtchilovtsi - 54 km.
- Momtchilovtsi - Momina Voda - Bogutevo - Tchepelare - Rozhen Observatory - Momtchilovtsi - 56 km.
- Momtchilovtsi - Kiseriytsa - Tikale - Smolyan - 23 km.
- Momtchilovtsi - Rozhen Saddle - Levotchevo - Smolyan - 32 km.
